Guide hub FAQ

What is the best group travel company?

There is no single best one, only a best one for the week you want. Coach operators like Contiki win on price per country. Small group operators like Intrepid and Explore Worldwide win on cultural depth and reach. Solo-focused operators like Flash Pack and Other Way Round win on group composition. SurfYogaBeer is built for an active, highly social week where nearly everyone arrived alone.

How do I pick a group trip?

In this order: how many days you genuinely have, how physical you want the days to be, whether you want a defined age band, what share of travelers book solo, group size, and what is actually included. Destination comes last. Get the first five right and the week works almost anywhere.

What makes SurfYogaBeer different?

Three things. The days are genuinely active rather than sightseeing. The groups run 12 to 30 people, which is which varies by destination and season, and nearly everyone in it arrived on their own. And the large majority of travelers arrive alone, so nobody is the odd one out.

How many guides are on this page?

Seventy, grouped by what you are trying to work out: company comparisons, alternatives, solo travel, best-of shortlists, active and fitness trips, surf and retreat questions, month by month destination timing, and pages about SurfYogaBeer itself.

Are these comparisons fair to other companies?

That is the intent. Every comparison page has a section on what the other company is genuinely better at, and the facts about each operator come from their own published pages rather than from us. If you spot something out of date, tell us and we will fix it.

How much do SurfYogaBeer trips cost?

From $1,950 for five nights in Nicaragua up to $4,450 for eight nights in Japan. Accommodation, most meals, activities, in-country transfers, leaders and a professional photographer are included. International flights are not. A 20 percent deposit holds your spot.
